Friends in Action on the Ivory Coast

In February 2024, David Reid and Odhran Harney jetted off to the Ivory Coast with Friends in Action, a Northern Ireland based organisation who are helping to provide essential water supply services in remote rural African areas.

Globally, 2 billion people still lack access to safely managed drinking water services (World Bank, 2022). As part of the Friends in Action Team, David and Odhran played a small part in correcting this problem by performing single bore hole pump tests and carrying out maintenance to the drilling rig and support vehicles.  Charles Brand were happy to support the team financially by donating £10,000 to cover the cost of a well, pump, and a water tower.

The duo captured their trip in a short video, highlighting how their education and skills were put to good use and helping to provide essential water supplies in areas that currently have nothing.
