Coleraine University & Dhu Varren Platform Extension

Coleraine University & Dhu Varren Platform Extension

In a joint venture with Rhomberg Sersa, we successfully completed a project on behalf of Translink.

This encompassed the extension of two platforms at Coleraine University and Dhu Varren train stations. Successful completion of the works allows new six carriage trains to stop at both locations, increasing passenger capacity and improving the rail infrastructure for future generations.

Client

Translink

Value

£1.8M

Duration

25 weeks

Both new platforms are now 150m in length, and works included:

  • Demolition of the existing platform at University station
  • Installation of a piled foundations
  • Installation of precast cross walls and slabs
  • Installation of acoustic fencing, guardrails, CCTV, lighting, furniture and surfacing
  • PWay alignment of the track

Charles Brand worked closely with Translink and their design team to accommodate the needs of local residents and minimise noise and disruption, resulting in the project being delivered within an overall 3 week blockade as opposed to the original 22 week programme under TIII night possessions.
